Charitable Bequests

For many members of our community, a bequest is the best and easiest way to make a gift to the Foundation.

Do you want to make a difference?

The lasting impact of bequests – both large and small – will support and shape the growth of Northern Hospital of Surry County in the years to come.

Types of Bequests

By means of a Will or other estate plan, The Northern Hospital Foundation can be named as a beneficiary of your estate. You can arrange to bequeath a gift from your estate in several different ways. You may gift a specific dollar amount or item, a percentage of your estate, or those assets remaining after other specific bequests are distributed.

If you are considering a bequest to The Northern Hospital Foundation, we encourage you to explore the various donation options with your financial and legal advisors, ensuring that your future gift is as tax effective as possible and takes your family needs into consideration. The following sample gift language may be of help to your financial and legal advisors.

Specific Bequest

A specific bequest involves making a gift of a specified dollar amount, percentage of your estate, or asset such as real estate, securities or personal property. For example, you might bequest $50,000, 25% of your estate, land, shares of stock, or artwork to The Northern Hospital Foundation.

(DBA The Northern Hospital Foundation), a not-for-profit organization located in Mount Airy, North Carolina, the sum of $ ________ to be used to further its purposes as the Board of Trustees in their discretion may deem appropriate (or in support of a specific area of interest).”

Residual Bequest

Your residual estate is a what remains after all other bequests, debts and taxes have been satisfied. A common bequest involves gifting all or a percentage of the residue of the estate. For example, you may wish to leave 30% of the remainder of your estate to The Northern Hospital Foundation.
